Memo
The Beginning of a Great Team and Organization
Jackie started the meeting by explaining that the foundation is a way for families to have the opportunity
to spend more time with there loved ones, when diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. This foundation is to
help educate people on pancreatic cancer and let them know that it is a “Silent Killer”.
Les informed us that most families are not as fortunate
as Mickey was due to finances. It cost $400.00 a day for the feeding tubes that patients need.
The first thing that will need to
be accomplished is people to sign up if they want to be part of the board or a volunteer for the foundation. There
will be forms on the front table to fill out.
++Jennifer is to find two purses for auction in October.
++Deb is in charge of setting up the route we will take for the Fun
Run in September.
++Barry
will talk to Agrifos about a sponsorship or donation.
++Jackie will speak to the owner of the Gold Nugget to see if he would like to sponsor our Casino Night
we want to have in January or February.
We will be having the first annual “Angels Among Us” barbecue on October 5, 2008 at KK’s Pub.
We are selling raffle tickets for a 2009 Heritage Softail motorcycle, a one carat diamond ring and a 50 inch flat screen
TV. The tickets are $20 a piece. There will also be a live and silent auction.
We are asking for donations to help with the auction items. Some ideas Jackie would like to put
in place is a booze wagon, a toy wagon (one for a girl and one for a boy), a trip to Las Vegas with airline fair an limo ride
to hotel, etc… All ideas will be welcomed.
There will be a Fun Run held sometime on September 21 on a Sunday ending at the Neon Moon with
Chris Elliott providing entertainment.
Les will sponsor Chris Elliott if he needs to.
We decided that we would have a monthly meeting to
update everyone on the progress of the foundation. Julie and Doris have volunteered to cook dinner that
we will sell for $5 a plate. Also we would like to encourage everyone to bring friends and family to help
support our cause. If anyone would like to volunteer to cook at a meeting, please see Julie or Doris.
We discussed having bracelets, koozies
and bottle covers made to sell. Would like any ideas to help make decision on what wording should be put
on them.
Barry asked
if we were set up so companies who give donations would receive receipts to use as a tax write off. Les
said yes.
It was mentioned
that we could have a garage sell or carwash to raise money.
We discussed placing a bill board in Pasadena and at some point doing commercials and having bill boards
all over. Conley said he knows Larry Allen and might be able to contact his son who has the bill boards
in Pasadena.
